DermotDermot Trimble

I was was born in Singapore in 1955 and have lived in London since early childhood. I took up painting in my twenties and studied at a number of private studios in the UK and Europe. After a career in finance, I studied at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea. I graduated from the school's Portraiture Diploma programme where I produced the prize-winning portfolio of my year. My work is represented in a number of private collections

I am influenced by twentieth century and contemporary painters such as Bomberg, Auerbach and Freud. I love these artists' strong observational skills combined with conviction, spontaneity and risk taking in mark making. These influences are reflected in the sense of structure and form that I seek to create in my work.

I undertake commissioned portraits. My portraits are all painted from life in my studio in Wandsworth (south west London). I see the interaction between the artist and the sitter as integral to the observational process and the creation of a living expression of the sitter.

If you are interested in commissioning a portrait, viewing or purchasing my work please do get in touch.
